Clinic management software in Pakistan: a checklist before you choose
Moving a clinic off registers and slips is one of the best investments you can make in your practice, but only if the software fits the way your clinic actually works. Use these questions when you compare options.
1. Can patients book online by themselves?
Patients should be able to choose a doctor, see only the times that are really free, and book without calling. Check that bookings are confirmed by email or message, and that patients can book for a child or an elderly parent.
2. Does it handle both clinic visits and video visits?
Even if you don’t do video consultations today, you may want to later. It is easier if the same booking page, schedule and patient record cover both.
3. How do patients pay?
Look for card, JazzCash, Easypaisa and bank account payments through a licensed payment gateway, and the option to take cash at the counter. For video visits, the fee should be collected before the call.
4. Does the doctor see the full history before the visit?
A good system lets the patient fill in their history and upload reports before they arrive, and shows the doctor their past visits and prescriptions in one place.
5. Are prescriptions digital and printable?
Doctors should be able to write prescriptions quickly from a medicine list, and print them with your clinic’s name. The prescription should stay on the patient’s record.
6. Can you manage doctors’ timings, leaves and attendance?
Each doctor’s days and timings should control the free slots automatically, and leaves should block bookings without anyone editing a register.
7. Will it grow with you?
If you plan to add doctors or open another branch, check that the system supports several clinics or locations from one account.
8. Is patient data kept private?
Ask how logins work for patients and staff, whether every page uses HTTPS, whether passwords are stored securely, and whether each clinic can only see its own patients.
9. Does it work on any phone?
Most of your patients will book on a phone, often on mobile data. A system that runs in the browser, without an app download, removes a big barrier.
10. Who sets it up, and who answers when you need help?
Ask who will enter your doctors, timings and fees, how staff will be trained, and how you reach support. WhatsApp support in English and Urdu makes a big difference for clinic staff.
